Police Commissioner visits shopping malls
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
The Acting National Police Commissioner, Lt Gen. Khomotso Phahlane, says safety at shopping malls is one area where the police can make a massive difference during the festive season.
Phahlane is visiting the Attlyn shopping centre in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria.
Phahlane will also visit the newly built, Mall of Africa in Midrand as part of an ongoing campaign during the festive season.
"The campaign is aimed at highlighting combined efforts by all role-players to ensure the safety of citizens and visitors during this time," Phahlane said.
Police officials have been deployed at malls and other strategic areas as part of the SAPS' Back-to-Basics approach to improve visibility, enhance policing and curb various crimes which tend to spike during the festive season.
The SAPS will also closely engage with members of the community as part of raising awareness and educating the public.
