On Saturday, Gauteng police foiled another cash-in-transit (CIT) heist.

"A multidisciplinary team was following up on intelligence-driven information when they intercepted a group of armed suspects along John Voster road in Centurion", explained SAPS national spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe.

"During the interception, two robbers were fatally wounded during a shoot out with police. Three AK47 automatic rifles were recovered."

This follows the fatal wounding of nine CIT robbers during a shootout with police in Sebokend on Thursday.

Still in the Vaal area, the National Anti Kidnapping Task Team rescued two teenage boys after they were kidnapped in the south of Johannesburg.

"In Eldorado Park, the National Intervention Unit responsible for investigating gang-related activities arrested six drug dealers," said Mathe.

"This brings the total number of drug dealers arrested in Eldorado Park to thirteen following the arrest of seven others on Thursday.

"High-density operations are intensifying throughout the country through heightened police visibility with a focus on seizing illegal firearms, drugs and stolen motor vehicles."
