Police on the hunt for suspects who hijacked EC cop
Updated | By NewsWatch
A manhunt has been launched by Eastern Cape police following the hijacking of a police officer in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Engcobo area.
Spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana says the police officer had attended to a complaint of a person who was raped.
As he was driving back from the medical institution where he had dropped off the victim, he was accosted by two men at gunpoint.
Kinana says they pulled him out of his police van and drove off in it.
The member escaped unhurt and his vehicle was later found abandoned in the nearby Sigidi forest.
Kinana says they're currently searching for the suspects in and around the local villages.
