Police in Gauteng are searching for three men who shot and killed a father during an attempted hijacking outside his son’s school in Soweto.
The man was shot and killed on Tuesday after he apparently tried to assist a hijacking victim outside the Faranani Primary School in Protea Glen.
Police say the woman parked her car next to the primary school when she was approached by three armed men who demanded her car keys.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says the man was shot when he tried to intervene.
"It is alleged that the man who witnessed the hijacking tried to intervene when the suspects shot at him. The suspects jumped into the woman's vehicle and drove away. Police have opened a case of murder and car hijacking. A manhunt is underway for the suspects."
