The police have identified twenty suspects whom they believe to be behind the recent spate of cash-in-transit heists around the country.

According to national spokesperson, Vishnu Naidoo, two of the twenty suspects have already been arrested.

“As part of our organised crime threat analysis approach, we have profiled CIT (cash-in-transit) robbers and of that profiling of the CIT robbers, we have come up at least twenty of them that we have highlighted or listed as the top twenty.”

The country has seen an upsurge in cash-in-transit heists, but Naidoo believes the kingpins will soon all be behind bars.

He says the suspects live in various parts of the country but that police are unable to provide any more information as it could influence the ongoing investigations.

“What we don’t want to do is let the suspects know that we know who they are. And we don’t want to create a situation where we are going to give them an opportunity, not just to run, but to hide which will make it even more difficult to find them.”
