Police investigate fire at Rhodes University
Updated | By AlgoaFM
Rhodes University at Grahamstown is reporting that a fire was started at a basement entrance of the main administration building on campus at around 4.00am on Saturday.

Rhodes says damage caused to electrical and communication lines has resulted in these services not being available in that area of the admin building. The SAPS and the Fire Department were on scene, and a case of arson has been opened by the police.
The University says it is committed to the cause of ensuring that every academically deserving student is afforded the opportunity to access quality higher education teaching but condemns all forms of violence, arson and the destruction of property.
The Academic programme resumed at Rhodes on Thursday. On Friday, 11 Rhodes students were back in court on charges of public violence, violating a court interdict and contravening the Gatherings Act after clashing with police two days earlier.
They're out on bail on condition that they do not interfere with witnesses and the university's academic activities.
