Police monitoring four protests in Joburg south
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) is
monitoring four protests across various areas in the south of Johannesburg that
erupted from the early hours of Friday morning.
JMPD's Wayne Minnaar says protests have been reported in Ennerdale, Pimville, Kliptown and on the Golden Highway in Soweto.

Kliptown Shutdown organiser, Boy Motsoeneng, says the residents in the area are protesting against the failure of local government's social housing programme.
He adds residents are concerned over the increased rent at the Kliptown flats, without proper consultation.
According to Motsoeneng, the protests will continue until local government officials visit the areas and address residents' concerns.
"If they are not coming, we are continuing Monday. We have lobbied other complexes to make the city and Gauteng province ungovernable," warns Motsoeneng.
