Police nab three Springs prison escapees
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Gauteng police have rearrested three of the nine awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from Springs Magistrate Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says the suspects were rearrested hours after the escape.
The three include Sibande Sibekezele Xulu, who is facing charges of housebreaking and theft, Clayton Donovan Booysen, who is facing a charge of possession of drugs, and illegal immigrant Anock Nyiranda.
“The search for the other six continues while police are prioritising the apprehension of the four murder suspects considered to be highly dangerous and possibly armed,” says Peters.
The three will now face an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.
