Police offer reward for arrests in New Year’s Day shootings

Gauteng police are offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of those responsible for the deadly shootings in Johannesburg on New Year’s Day.
Two women were shot and killed during a drive-by shooting at the popular Poppy’s restaurant an hour into the new year.
At roughly the same time, a similar shootins at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown left 11 people injured.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says informants will only be compensated if the information provided leads to successful prosecution.
“A cash reward is on offer to any individual who can give information on either one of the shooting incidents, on condition such information leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspects.”
