The Kabokweni police officer, Bonginkosi Malinga, allegedly went on a shooting rampage on Sunday after he found his 34-year-old female companion, Goodness Mhaule, in the company of a 31-year old male, Sibusiso Justice Khoza.

Mhaule’s brother was also shot during the rampage and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

However, both Mhaule and Khoza were declared dead on the scene.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi confirms Malinga appeared in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday facing two charges of murder and one count of attempted murder.

“We were told that a brother of the female victim came out of the house to come and assist because he was hearing some gunshots. Unfortunately, he was also shot” said Hlathi.

“Emanating from that, Malinga was then arrested hence his appearance. However, IPID will take over this investigation.”
