Police officer wounded in Bedfordview shooting

Police arrested six suspects following a shoot-out in Bedfordview in the east of Johannesburg on Friday.

One police officer was shot in the arm and taken to hospital.
The shootout followed a chase between the officers and suspects believed to be driving a car stolen during a house robbery.
Bedfordview police spokesperson André de Jager says the suspects started shooting at the officers after pulling their vehicle to the side of the road in an industrial area.

“The police managed to arrest six suspects of which three were injured in the shootout and we recovered two firearms.”
