Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Police are questioning a 38 year-old man in connection with a group of people who were found in the back of a bakkie during a roadblock on the R21 on Thursday.
They were found without documentation.
Police have confirmed 15 children and 7 adults were being transported to Tembisa. Other details remain sketchy.
The Department of Social Development has been brought in to assist with accommodation and food for the group.
No one has been arrested.
"We are in contact the embassies in Zimbabwe and Mozambique," police spokeswomen Colonel Noxolo Kweza said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe was on scene and said the people who were found in the back of the bakkie were treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion.
"If they were not found earlier by police, we are afraid they would have suffered severe dehydration," she said.
