Police probing suspect found with Batchelor phone

The police in Gauteng will continue its investigation into a suspect who was arrested after being found in possession of a cell phone belonging to slain soccer star Marc Batchelor.
A Johannesburg-based private investigator was arrested after being accused of taking Batchelor's phone from his car on the night he was killed and deleting some of the information.
The suspect was expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in Gauteng Phindi Mjonodwane says the matter was struck off the roll pending further investigation.
"We can confirm as the NPA docket of a charge of defeating the ends of justice was brought to the Randburg Magistrates Court for a decision. However the prosecutor declined to enrol the matter and has instructed SAPS to conduct further investigation and the return the docket."
Mjonondwane says the matter has been suspended indefinitely.
Batchelor, who is also a former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs player, was gunned in Olivedale, north of Johannesburg last Monday while he was turning onto the driveway of his home.
