Police searching for driver in Mabuza crash

Mpumalanga police has called on members of the community to help track down the driver involved in the crash that killed a prominent spokesperson.
Police in Mpumalanga are yet to track down the driver involved in a vehicle collision that claimed the life of Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson Joseph Mabuza on Sunday.
The spokesperson was driving his motorbike on the N4 at Hectorspruit, east of Malelane, when a car made a U-turn and collided with him.
Mabuza was killed and the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.
The police's Leonard Hlathi says the community has been requested to assist the police in tracking down the driver.
"We are still searching for the driver of the bakkie that was involved in an accident which claimed the life of community safety spokesperson Jospeh Mabuza. We are still calling of community members to be of help and assist us with information which may led to the arrest of the suspect."
Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni has described Mabuza death as a huge blow to the provincial government.
"Death has robbed us as a provincial government a good communicator. On behalf of the provincial government, let me pass my deepest and sincere condolences to Mabuza's family, friends and colleagues in the entire administration.”
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport Ishmael Mnisi says Mabuza wasn't just an asset to the provincial but to the entire country.
A memorial service is set to take place on Thursday.
