Police seize illegal firearms & drugs

Police in Cape Town’s Nyanga policing cluster seized nine illegal firearms, various drugs, and arrested scores of people over the past few days, Western Cape police said on Sunday.

Six of the firearms were found in Manenberg, Captain FC van Wyk said.
The firearms recovered were five 9mm pistols, one shotgun, one .38 revolver, and two CZ 7.65mm pistols. Eleven people were arrested, he said.
About 145 people were arrested for possession of drugs when 68 houses were searched. Police confiscated 240.5g of tik (crystal meth), 480.25 Mandrax tablets, and 1980g of dagga.
Altogether 121 crimes against women and children were reported at the various stations and 56 arrests were made.
Ninety-four operations were conducted at illegal liquor outlets, 21 people were arrested, and 144,158.48 litres of illegal alcohol confiscated.
During seven tracing operations, 47 wanted people were arrested, Van Wyk said.
