Police winning the war against cash heists, says Nkosi-Malobane

Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane says there has been a decrease in the number of cash-and-transit heists in the province.

Nkosi-Malobane was speaking in Sandton following a meeting with the leadership of the various law enforcement agencies.
Gauteng’s outgoing provincial police commissioner Deliwe de Lange was also present.
“One of the things we agreed to was to increase visibility in hazardous locations, locations that are identified as areas that these crimes take place. If you look at our deployment strategies, we are beginning to see CITs happening in build up areas, as opposed to open areas,” said Nkosi-Malobane.
There has been an upsurge in cash-in-transit heists, especially in Gauteng, with a police officer shot and killed during an incident in Hillbrow on Thursday.
He was killed in a shootout with the suspects.
Six suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in court soon.
