Polokwane mother arrested for killing her son
A 28-year-old mother has been arrested for killing her 11-year-old son in Hlalanikahle village outside Polokwane in Limpopo.
The body of the young boy was found buried in a shallow grave in the yard of a rented house on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo, says the mother had to be rescued by police officers who arrived on the scene while residents of the village were busy attacking her.
They suspected her of the disappearance and murder of her son.
"Police investigations led them to the spot in the yard where the lifeless body of the child was found buried in a shallow grave," says Mojapelo.
The motive for the murder has not yet been established.
The mother is expected to appear before the Hlogotlou Magistrates' Court soon.
