The Polokwane High Court in Limpopo has handed serial killer and rapist Themba Dube eight life sentences
The 36-year-old man, dubbed the Polokwane serial killer, was sentenced on Tuesday.
Dube was found guilty of killing six women in and around Polokwane.
He was also convicted and sentenced for two counts of rape, five counts of robbery, extortion, and one count of being an illegal immigrant.
Dube was initially arrested in October 2021 for possession of a stolen cell phone that belonged to one of the women he had kidnapped in Lebowakgomo.
His arrest led police to the bodies of four women dumped at different locations in the Seshego, Polokwane, Mankweng, and Westernburg areas.
The accused pointed out seven places where he had killed the deceased persons.
"During the trial, the State witnesses told the court that Dube introduced himself as David or Prince," says NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.
"The accused would make false promises that he is offering jobs, along the way, he would rape and kill them.
"Some properties of the deceased persons were found in his rental room in Seshego."
She says the accused did not show any signs of remorse.
