Post Office: Preparations underway for R350 grant
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Post Office says preparations are underway at its various branches for the return of the R350 Covid-19 grant.
The Post Office was badly hit by the recent looting and violence, with several of its branches suffering damage in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
President Cyril Ramaphosa recently reinstated the R350 distress social grant for the next seven months.
The grant will be paid monthly until the end of March 2022.
Post Office spokesperson Johan Kruger says improvements are being made to the payments system.
“Where the branches have been looted or damaged, we have transferred equipment and people to branches nearby. In areas where it is impossible we are going to be using mobile cashpoints as we do in rural areas every month for Sassa payments.
“But soon we are going to offer more channels, it will not be post office cash pointers only but the preparations have already started and so far everything is going good.”
