Power outage over large parts of Joburg

Several suburbs in the central parts of Johannesburg have woken up in the dark on Tuesday morning.

This comes after the Hursthill Power Substation suffered an outage at about 5am.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says the cause of the outage is not known yet.
"We woke up this morning with a major outage from Hursthill Substation where we lost an 88 KV Line.
"That line is off causing a widespread outages affecting several areas including Auckland Park, Brixton, Melville, Westdene, Newlands, Newclear, Sophiatown and surrounding areas."
Mangena adds that operators have been dispatched to investigate.
"We have dispersed operators to two substations that are interlinked to investigate the cause of the outage. The time of restoration will be communicated as soon as the cause of the outage has been identified.
"We however don't think that the outage will affect the water pumping system in the area because the line was secured in the past when we had these kind of outages."
