Power restored at Mapleton pumping station
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Power has been restored at Rand Water's Mapleton Booster Pumping Station following a power trip on Saturday.
The power trip affected some reservoirs in Gauteng, leading to some areas experiencing low water pressure.
The water board says pumping has resumed, and some areas are beginning to receive water, but recovery time will differ.
The pumping station is currently pumping at 80%.
Investigations are underway to determine the root cause of the low power supply.
Meanwhile, the Bronberg system in the City of Tshwane, which is directly linked to the Mapleton system, has been shut down to allow its reservoirs to build up.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says water tankers have been dispatched to supply the affected parts of Pretoria East with water.
