Predominantly stage 3 load shedding over weekend – Eskom
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
Eskom will implement stage 3 load shedding from 4pm on Thursday until midnight when the planned power cuts will be suspended until 5am on Friday.
The utility’s spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says the suspension of load shedding at midnight will be repeated on Friday and Saturday night.
“Load shedding will be suspended from midnight on Saturday until 16:00 on Sunday, followed by stage 3 load shedding until midnight.
“Breakdowns slightly increased to 15 100MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance slightly increased to 5 252MW.”
Mokwena says a generating unit at Arnot Power Station was returned to service over the past 24 hours, while a generation unit at Matimba Power Station was taken out of service due to a breakdown.
“The delay in returning to service two generating units at Tutuka Power Station is contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working around the clock to return generating units to service over the next few days.”
