Updated | By Karabo Tebele
A small group of people have attempted to loot shops in Hammarsdale in KwaZulu-Natal.

This was confirmed by Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni on Tuesday during an update on the recent unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
It is reported the group cited hunger as the reason for the attempt to loot shops.
"Today when we were sitting, we just got confirmation that a small group of people were attempting to loot because they were saying they are hungry and could not find food," said Ntshavheni.
"They have been dispersed by the police and those are the instances that the police and the military continue to be on the look out for and that was in Hammersdale today."
More than 200 people died and police have also arrested more than 2000 people in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
