President Zuma to launch the eChannel Pilot Project
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
President Jacob Zuma will on Thursday officially launch the eChannel Pilot Project of the Department of Home Affairs in Midrand.
The Department of Home Affairs has collaborated with four major banks to introduce an online application platform for Smart ID cards and passports.
ABSA, FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank will provide space for the Department of Home Affairs kiosks inside banks where clients will walk in to submit their fingerprints and pictures, having made appointments and payments online.
Examples of the new kiosks were lined up outside a hall at the Gallagher Convention Centre so dignitaries could see how the system will work.
