Africans are in for a real treat with preparations underway to turn Jacques Pauw’s
best-selling book, The President’s Keepers, into a
television series.

Producer Niel van Deventer Van Deventer says a team of writers have already started working on the scripts.
“We have appointed a writing team comprising on local guys and researchers. We are now actively developing a story bible which is basically what the whole series will be about from the start to the future because it is unfolding as we speak.
“From there on, we will develop a first episode pilot script,” he adds.

Van Der Venter could not immediately reveal who would play former president Jacob Zuma but says the scouting has begun.
“We are in talks with some guy in Hollywood to portray the role of former president Jacob Zuma. We are also in talks with a couple of agents based here and there which we will both use, and hopefully cast the rest of it both locally.”
The series is expected to run for three seasons, each consisting of 6 to 8 episodes, and is expected to air within the next 12 months.
