Pretoria teacher accused of sexual assault

An investigation has been launched into allegations that a teacher sexually assaulted several learners at a Pretoria school.
It's alleged the teacher fondled nine learners at the Kodumela Primary School.
Provincial education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says it's believed the teacher assaulted the girl learners who are between the ages of 11 and 16.
"I was shocked. It was brought to my attention yesterday and I immediately instructed that the teacher be removed from the school. I am relieved the HOD has signed the relevant papers and the teacher will not be there from Monday," Lesufi says.
He says such behaviour will not be tolerated at schools.
Some of the pupils have refused to go to school as a result of the alleged assault.
"The mooted suspension will necessitate that learners go back to school, without any fear," Lesufi says.
