Pretoria woman nabbed for murder of niece (17)

A 32-year -old woman has been arrested following the death of her niece in Sunnyside, Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Daniel Mavimbela says the 17-year-old was found in a bath of hot water inside their flat on Tuesday.
"Preliminary investigations led the police detectives to believe that the victim had suffered burn wounds to her upper and lower body. A post mortem is expected to reveal the exact cause of death."
It is believed that the two women had an before the victim’s death.

The suspect alleged her niece had committed suicide but police later made the grim discovery.
"One of the officers who had attended the scene and found the deceased inside the bathtub was described by an SAPS employee, health and wellness practitioner as ‘shocked and devastated'. The officers are expected to attend the debriefing sessions to rid themselves from the trauma following the alleged incident."
The suspect is facing a charge of murder and is due to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court soon.
