Private scholar transport needs complete overhaul: Lesufi
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi wants tighter
measures for private scholar transportation across the province.

This comes after two pupils and a biker were killed after a motorbike crashed into a taxi transporting pupils on Monday.
The lifeless bodies of the two young victim, aged between 6 and 10, were found on top of the biker.
The incident took place on the N57 near Olifantsfontein - just less than a kilometre from the pupils’ school.
Lesufi visited Madibatlou Middle School following the incident to address the pupils and families.
“At least there is only one leaner that needs serious medical attention. I think others are on their way to recovery, we remain hopeful that they will be attended,” Lesufi told journalists at the school.
The MEC said the private scholar transport system needs a complete overhaul.
“Most importantly, in terms of registrations, a person must register a number of children that he is transporting. I think we do that we will be in a position to control this kind of accidents,” said the MEC.
The department says the taxi was transporting 19 pupils at the time of the crash.
