Pro-Palestine group to march to Parliament

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) will be marching to Parliament on Wednesday in protest against US President Donald Trump recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The group believes Trump's controversial decision is not a Muslim or Jewish, but one of human rights.

The PSC's Terry Crawford-Browne says they want answers from the African National Congress (ANC).

"The ANC is meeting in conference this weekend. One of the resolutions before the conference is the downgrading of diplomatic relations of Israel. The government has verbally declared its support for Palestine but has done nothing in practice internationally. This is a major disappointment to the South Africans that assumed that human rights would govern foreign policy post-1994"

Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has seen tensions rise across the Middle East.

He has also decided to eventually move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Crawford-Browne believes the time has come for the South African government to take decisive action.

"We want them to immediately sever diplomatic relations with the apartheid state of Israel. We want the ANC government to support a Palestinian application to the International Criminal Court of charges against the leaders of both the Israeli and US governments of genocide."
