Probe after blaze erupts at Leeuwkop prison

Several prisoners had to be relocated after two cells were engulfed in flames at the Leeuwkop Correctional Centre on Tuesday.

Correctional services spokesperson Logan Maistry says the fire broke out in the afternoon at the Medium B facility.
"Fortunately no inmates or officials were harmed or sustained any injuries. Two cells were affected."

Maistry says the fire has since been contained.
"Emergency services managed to get the situation under control."
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
