Gauteng Community Safety MEC Nkosi Malobane has sent her condolences to families who lost loved ones during a stampede at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Two people died on Saturday before the Carling Cup pre-season clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in Soweto.
"I am deeply saddened by the passing away of supporters and injuries sustained at FNB stadium. This incident is unfortunate as security plans are always in place from a law enforcement agencies' perspective," said Nkosi-Malobane
This comes amid reports that the selling of fake tickets outside the stadium led to the stampede.
Gauteng police says they will investigate these reports.
"There are allegations that there were people selling fake tickets.
"Our investigation will also try and establish what caused the stampede and why there were so many people outside the stadium," said spokesperson Mavela Masondo.
