Probe into fire at Sandton’s popular Greenhouse Bar
The management of the popular Greenhouse Bar and restaurant in Sandton has confirmed that the bar will be closed until further notice following a fire at the establishment.
The fire broke out on Saturday night while the bar was filled with patrons.
In a short statement, the management said it will shut down operations temporarily.
“On Saturday evening we had a fire at hour Sandton venue, due to the open indoor and outdoor design of the space it was easy to get all our loyal patrons and amazing staff out safely, fortunately, due to the most superficial damage, we will be up and running again soon…watch the space for further details. Thank you for your loyal patronage.”
Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Nana Radebe said the cause of the fire is being investigated by authorities.
“We received a structural call at Sandton, on arrival we found that the fire was already extinguished, fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported. We did not do any fire investigations because we did not render any service.”
