Probe into police officer’s ‘lesbian assault spree’

Police in the Eastern Cape have launched an investigation into the assault of four women by a police officer and his mother.

Police in King William’s Town are investigating a brutal attack on a group of women, allegedly because of their sexual orientation.
The police constable and his 60-year-old mother are facing a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm after they allegedly assaulted the four women.

According to police spokesperson, Mail Govender, the motive of the attack is still under investigation but “there are allegations that it has something to do with their preferences”.
The victims, between the ages of 24 and 30, are recovering in hospital.
The constable, who is stationed at a Mthatha police station, and his mother will appear in court on July 17.
