Probe into Ramaphosa link to Bosasa only completed after polls

The Public Protector will only complete her investigation into the relationship between President Cyril Ramaphosa, his son and controversial company Bosasa after next month’s elections.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane met with Busiswe Mkhwebane on Tuesday to discuss the probe.
“The investigation is receiving the highest attention possible. It will not be possible in the short term to complete the investigation, because as it has been happening now, there are layers and layers of issues that are emerging as various role players are coming on board.
“It’s not only just an investigation as to whether or not the president misled parliament. It is now a question of saying that there are further issues that have been alleged. As you know, Andile Ramaphosa has already confirmed publicly that he received more than R500 000 it was now in the realm of R2 million. The Public Protector also confirmed that the report will not be finalized before election day on the 8 May because the investigation has to carry on for much longer,” said Maimane.
Last year President Ramaphosa was accused of misleading Parliament when asked about the R500 000 from Bosasa.
He told parliament that the money was for his eldest son, Andile Ramaphosa, but later changed his statement and said it was a donation to his campaign to be elected ANC president.
Andile Ramaphosa has recently come out to say he has received a separate R2 million from Bosasa for advisory work done by one of his companies.
The Public Protector's spokesperson Oupa Segalwe says the DA matter is receiving the urgent attention it deserves.
“Naturally the Public Protector will not be able to complete such a complicated case in the next six months, but he (Maimane) has been assured that we are doing all in our power to conclude the matter and it is receiving the necessary attention,” he says.
