Prominent liquidator Cloete Murray has succumbed to his injuries following Saturday's brazen shooting on the N1 in Midrand.
Murray was rushed to hospital in a critical condition while his 28-year-old son Thomas Murray died on the scene after they were gunned down near the New Road off-ramp in Midrand.
The 50-year-old and his son were involved in several high-profile liquidations, including that of controversial facilities management company Bosasa and the Guptas.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello says police are investigating two counts of murder.
“It's reported that on 18 March 2023, two men, reportedly a father and son, were travelling together when their vehicle was shot at by unknown suspects.
"The son was fatally shot while the father sustained injuries and was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries."
The assassination has sent shock waves through the legal fraternity.
Sello says no arrests have been made.
“The circumstances that led to the incident are unknown at this stage."
