Protest against toll gate fee increase in Mpumalanga
Updated | By ANA
COSATU on Monday said it would embark on protests against toll gate fee increment in Mpumalanga.
The trade union federation said it would stage pickets and demonstrations against the “extorbitant rates” at the province’s three toll plazas, said Cosatu spokesman Fidel Mlombo.
“Cosatu has been against the privatisation of public roads as a form of the delivery of basic services since its formation. The protest actions are part of the Cosatu campaign for the safe, affordable, accessible and efficient public transport. We also call for the total scraping of the toll gates in the province,” Mlombo said.
The protests would be held at Middleburg, Nkomazi and Ermelo toll plazas.
