Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Students from the Johannesburg Central College
in Alexandra, north of the city, have been protesting since early Wednesday morning.

The police’s Granville Meyer says the students are unhappy over a lack of accommodation.
Students have blocked the road outside the college with burning tyres.
Police say no arrests have been made and thus far there has been no damage to property.

One of the students, Nthabi Moloi, says many of the students come from far and are desperate for a place to stay.
Moloi says students will meet with the college management this afternoon in an attempt to resolve the situation.
