Tshwane metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba has urged motorists to rather make use of alternative routes amid Wednesday's protests.
Residents of Pretoria West took to the streets to express their frustrations over the failure of delivery service for water and electricity.
Mahamba says the protesters barricaded the streets with burning tyres and objects on Wednesday morning.
"We can confirm that there is a service delivery protest at Van Der Hoff from Ludrick Street towards the Coca-Cola depot. They are barricading that portion of the street with burning tyres and objects.
"The information at our disposal is that the protest is related to service delivery relating to water and electricity as the city we will engage the protesters to try to find the reasoning behind this protest and try to resolve it.
He adds that no arrests have been made.
"TMPD and SAPS are currently on scene, everything at this stage is under control and we will be on scene until the scene has been cleared. No arrests have been made at this stage and there are no people that have been reported to have been injured currently."
