Road in City Deep Johannesburg was closed off on Saturday morning due to an
electricity protest by residents.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson, Wayne Minnaar, says the protests occurred near the flats in City Deep.
“There are protests on Heidelberg Road outside flats outside near the City Deep market in Johannesburg, where there’s rocks and burning tires on the road surface.”
Minnaar adds that while power is trying to be restored, motorists should use alternative routes.
“Staff from City Power are currently working to restore electricity at the flats.
“Motorists should avoid Heidelberg Road going past the market at the moment and can use the N12 or M2 as alternative routes,” says Minnaar.
