PTA woman in high school sexual abuse case granted bail

A 37-year-old woman appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday in connection with the sexual abuse of five high school boys.

The woman was granted bail of R7 500.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in Gauteng Phindi Mjonondwane says the woman, who cannot be named as she is yet to plead, faces charges of sexual assault and sexual grooming of children.
"We can confirm as the NPA that there are allegations against a female who appeared in court that she sexually abused five schoolboys and the matter was before court where she was granted bail in the amount of R7 500.”

The suspect to not contact the witnesses directly or indirectly and to report to Boschkop police station on Mondays and Fridays.
The case was postponed to March.
Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool, also known as Affies, said it is aware that some of its pupils are affected by the court case.
It added that the incidents did not take place during school activities.
The school will not comment any further in the interest of the children and parents.
