Pupil stabbed to death at Limpopo cultural event

The Department of Education in Limpopo has launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to a fatal stabbing incident at a school in the Vhembe District.

According to the department, pupils from different schools had gathered at a cultural event at Phothani Secondary School in Mulamula village when two pupils began fighting.
A spokesperson for the department, Mosebjane Kgaffe, said a comprehensive update would be made public once internal investigations are done.
"We are working closely with the police, who are also investigating the unfortunate incident. MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has since declared her regret of the incident and has sent her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
Kgaffe said psychosocial support will be offered to the school.
