The bus company suspended buses in Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga due to unpaid March subsidy claims by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport.

The department's spokesperson Lesiba Mpya says the payment for the portion of March has been captured, but will only reflect on Monday due to transactions from different bank accounts.

This means the payment will take three days to reflect.

"Delays in processing subsidized bus operators’ payments for the month of March 2023 are a result of a widely-known procedure and trend.

The Public Transport Operating Grant is only transferred to the province by the National Department of Transport in the first week of May each financial year.

The Department currently manages 34 bus subsidy contracts awarded to 13 bus operators, Putco amongst them," says Mpya.

Mpya says the department is working with the bus company to find a solution and to avoid any future service disruptions.
