Kolonnade 'hostage situation' turns out to be quarrel
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
A quarrel between a husband and his wife led to police being deployed to a bank at the Kolonnade Retail Park in the north of Tshwane on Wednesday morning.
Eyewitness Bruce Walker told Jacaranda FM News that police had cordoned off the bank after reports of a hostage situation.
"They say there is a hostage situation. They're all in their gear, bulletproof vests etcetera. Twenty policemen around in gears, that's metro police and SAPS."

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says police received a call of an apparent hostage situation.
However, Masondo says police went to the bank only to hear that a man was angry at his wife for taking too long at the bank.
"We can confirm that there was no hostage situation at Kolonnade as it was reported earlier on. Our members went to the site only find that there's man whose wife was inside that bank and she was apparently taking long and he went to check her.
"It is then that there was a slight commotion between them, so we'd like to confirm that there was no hostage situation and everything is back to normal."
