'Queen of Kwaito' Mshoza dies
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Kwaito star Nomasonto ‘Mshoza’ Maswanganyi has died at the age of 37.

She was rushed to a Johannesburg hospital on Wednesday night and succumbed to diabetes-related complications in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Her manager Thanduxolo Jindela says the family is still reeling from the news.
“We’d like to thank the public for giving us time and allowing the family to grieve. The fans of Mshoza, we thank them for being there for her,” Jindela told Jacaranda FM News.
Jindela says Mshoza will be remembered for her fierce spirit.
She’s also hailed for paving the way for other female artists in a male-dominated industry.
“Mshoza was a child star who started going to clubs at a very age, using her talent and breaking boundaries.
“Back then the kwaito or the music industry was male-dominated but she was one of the few in that category whom the public will recall her as the queen of kwaito, she was celebrated.”
Yet another loss to the music industry.

Mshoza took a hiatus from the industry but was set to make a comeback.
“A few days ago she said to me ‘Thanduxolo we need to make sure that we fight this Covid that is outside there so that we can go back to the stage freely and perform’,” Jindela adds.
“The world and Africa and South Africa loved Mshoza.”
Jinedela says the family is expected to meet on Thursday to begin with funeral arrangements.
She leaves behind 2 children.
