Ramaphosa to address nation on spate of food poisonings
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Friday evening about the government’s response to the surge in suspected food-borne illnesses.

In the latest incident, more than 50 pupils from Dzumeri Primary School in Giyani, Limpopo, were hospitalised on Thursday.
The president's address comes amid calls for him to declare a state of emergency over the suspected food poisoning incidents.
More than a dozen children have died in recent weeks, with hundreds being hospitalised in Gauteng, Limpopo, Free State and Mpumalanga.
This week, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi told Parliament that the issue is bigger than health and safety at spaza shops.
He made the remarks after a toxicology report confirmed the presence of the chemical organophosphate in the deaths of six children in Soweto.
