[WATCH LIVE] President Ramaphosa to address on lockdown regulations

President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation on Thursday as the country battles a steep rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.

The address follows meetings of the Cabinet and the National Coronavirus Command Council.
It also comes amid growing calls for schools to be closed again as the country reaches its Covid-19 peak.
The country’s biggest teachers union, the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu), has said that Ramaphosa will address the issue of schools.
The tobacco and alcohol industries have also applied pressure to government to lift the current bans.
To date the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 394 948, with the total number of deaths at 5 940.
