Ramaphosa calls for high-level investigation into horror bus crash

President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for a high level investigation into the horror bus crash in the Eastern Cape that claimed the lives of 25 people on Monday.
The bus carrying passengers between Butterworth and Centane in the Eastern Cape lost control on a gravel road and plunged 200 metres down a steep gorge.

It is estimated that at least 90 people were on board, whilst the bus is only certified to transport 65 people.
Spokesperson in the Presidency, Khusela Diko, says an estimated 60 passengers are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
"The President's thoughts and prayers are with the families of passengers who perished in the incident as well as with an estimated 60 survivors and their loved ones."
"The President has directed Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula and the Provincial Government of the Eastern Cape to reach out to affected families and provide the necessary assistance, as well as to establish the factors that led to this tragedy."
