Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for an emergency joint sitting of Parliament on Wednesday to discuss solutions to the scourge of gender-based violence.
The sitting will consist of the two houses of Parliament, the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces.
Ramaphosa raised the issue of gender-based violence and the killing of women at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto on Sunday.
The president maintains rate of femicide in the country is unacceptably high and needs to be addressed urgently.
