President Cyril Ramaphosa denies rumours that the country will go back to level 3 of the lockdown.
Ramaphosa confirmed that he would be addressing the nation next week on the Covid-19 situation, but gave an assurance that there “no need to be alarmed”.
Ramaphosa was responding to a question from an MP in the National Council of Provinces on Tuesday afternoon.
The president acknowledged that government is anxious about South Africans flouting lockdown regulations.

"With regards to these rumours going about whether we're going to level 3. We continue to analyse. We are beginning to see some signs that are of concerns to us.
"As South Africans we are not adhering to regulations," he said. "We need to adhere to measures particularly now as we move to the fun season.
"I don't want to be an alarmist but the rumours that we're going to level 3 are simply not true. If we ever get there I will be the one to advise the nation."
Ramaphosa also confirmed that he has received two Special Investigating Unit (SIU) reports on investigations into Covid-19 contracts and procurement corruption.
The reports will only be made public once investigations are finalised.
