President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy at the memorial service of the last apartheid-era president, FW de Klerk.
Government announced on Wednesday that it will host a state memorial service for de Klerk.
The event will be held at the Groote Kerk in Cape Town on Sunday.
De Klerk passed away on 11 November at the age of 85 at his Cape Town home after a battle with cancer.
He was cremated and laid to rest on 21 November in a private ceremony for family members only.
He served as deputy president in the government of national unity from 1994 to 1996.
De Klerk’s role in ending apartheid and during the transition to democracy has been the subject of fierce debate since the news of his passing.
Ramaphosa says he played a vital role in South Africa’s transition to democracy in the 1990s.
The Presidency says attendees to the memorial service will be limited to accredited persons only due to prevailing Covid-19 regulations.
